STRENGTHENING CITIZENS' PARTICIPATION IN HEALTH & EDUCATION SERVICE DELIVERY

MICOD with funds from GAPP are implementing a project to"strengthening  citizen participation in health and education service delivery  " in Kiryandongo district, under the implementing activities MICOD conducted an interface meeting with the major objective  of making health and education stake holders and duty bearers appreciate the situation and key issues of service delivery , make commitments on these issues and concerns ,act on them,redirect the subsequent local government plans and budgets and consider them for action. key findings in service delivery in Mutunda sub-county: low parent involvement in the education of their children for example very few attend PTA meetings  high number of pupils in the classrooms for example at Pnyadoli hills primary school there 236 pupils in primary two sharing only two streams. some expectant mothers come un prepared during delivery and this was witnessed at diima health centre iii. there are no mosquito nets on beds ...

In fulfilment of the objectives of the project of  strengthening citizens participation in health and education service delivery in Kiryandongo district  a  community baraza was organised by MICOD with a purpose of  Creating  space for citizens to share key issues,Bridging gap between the  leaders and  community members and Creating awareness of rights to community members. The baraza was attended by local Leaders, Parish Accountability Groups  ,Community Resource Monitors and community members. the following were the issues that were raised during the meeting: issues from the education sector The community members were  blessed with the secondary school but the school does not have any developments it is declining in all aspects starting from the number of students,most of the students rent but the behaviours in theses rentals are not good which leads to many of them becoming mothers at an early age, teachers are not well-equipp...

with funds from GAPP MICOD is implementing a project , with a major objective of improving citizen participation in health and education service delivery in Bweyale town council and Mutunda sub-county Kiryandongo district. under this project MICOD carried out a budget performance analysis and review on 23rd  march and the following key issues emerged Low budget allocations for example there were no allocations for buying desks yet 5-6 pupils sit on one desk in a classroom in bweyale 2018/2019 It is evident that citizens do not take part i the budgeting planning and  monitoring practices most of the funds were put on administration and way forward.
